Don’t Be Afraid of the Medium Partner Program Changes

We’re only a few days in, and I like it already.

I created my Medium account years ago and didn’t touch it again until late this summer, at which point, I became aware of the Medium Partner Program. I didn’t become a paid Medium member until a month after that.

Well, color me converted, because this thing is addicting. I’m writing more often and on a wider variety of subjects. I’m more consistent. My pieces are curated more often than they’re not, and I’ve caught the eye of a few publications I admire.

I like it here.

But it’s only been two months.

So I honestly wasn’t far enough into my Medium writer’s experience to have much of a reaction to the news that the Partner Program would be changing from a likes-based payment platform, tallied weekly, to a reads-based payment platform, tallied daily.

I didn’t have enough time to get to know the platform. I had no reason to form any kind of solid opinion on the change aside from “hey, checking in daily will be fun!”
